The training for the EFAW qualification equips you with basic lifesaving first aid skills, as well as an understanding of workplace health and safety regulations. Delivered over 6 hours of training this course will also educate employees on how to handle a wide range of specific work-related situations, as well as teaching them cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Who Should attend our Emergency First Aid at Work courses?
The (EFAW) Emergency First Aid at Work course is recommended if you work in a “low risk” environment. More information will be found on the HSE first aid needs page.
Emergency First Aid training is the first step towards saving a life and may prove useful for any member person wanting to learn first aid. This first aid course also enables a company to comply with Health and Safety by having the appropriate number of first aiders in the workplace.
During the one day first aid course you will learn the skills and confidence to act in an emergency. Thanks to our first instructors who have the experience and knowledge you will feel more prepared if you ever find yourself in a situation that requires immediate first aid. What is Emergency First Aid at Work?
The 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is a 6-hour course and a great introduction to first aid training. This first aid course we offer will help you meet the requirements set out in the Health and Safety regulations of 1981. The course will also ensure that employees remain qualified for 3 years.
Certificates:
Optimal First Aid offer two options for the Emergency First Aid at Work course first aid certificate. There is no difference with the credibility, but some will prefer a certificate from OFQAUL where others will not.
Optimal First Aid self-certificate this course as default. As a training organisation we meet the criteria set by the principles of assessment for first aid qualifications whilst we demonstrate and satisfy certain criteria set by HSE.

If you are unsure about how many first aiders, you need within your workplace more information can be found on the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 website or by contacting us.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is a short course that must be attended for the full 6 hours of face-to-face training. We are, however, able to offer the 3-day Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) in a ‘blended learning’ format by completing 1-day of online e-learning to leave only 2-days’ worth of face-to-face training rather than 3.
Our Emergency Level 3 First Aid at Work (EFAW) 1-day courses are accredited and regulated practical courses that meet the First Aider requirements of all workplaces with less than 50 employees. This course is fully accredited by Qualifications Network which is regulated and quality assured and therefore satisfies the HSE’s requirements for workplace first aid training in the UK.
Certain techniques, such as providing CPR, are taught using practical demonstrations in a face-to-face first aid course, so it is best to wear loose fitting clothes, trousers (not skirts or dresses) and flat shoes.
