Designed to meet both HSE and Forestry Commission standards, this one-day qualification covers the essential life-saving skills needed when working with chainsaws, heavy machinery, or in isolated woodland areas. From managing catastrophic bleeds to treating crush injuries and hypothermia, this course goes beyond standard first aid—because when you’re miles from help, what you do in the first few minutes matters most.

Emergency First Aid at Work +F (Forestry) Course Content

This course includes all the content of an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course, with an added module required by the Forestry Commission (+F).

  • Primary Survey and CPR

  • Managing an unconscious casualty

  • Catastrophic bleeding and the use of tourniquets and haemostatic agents

  • Shock and severe bleeding

  • Crush injuries

  • Hypothermia

  • Lyme disease and tick awareness

  • Bites, stings and common outdoor injuries

  • Chainsaw-related injuries (penetrating trauma)

  • AED use (Defibrillator)
