Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (EFAW+F Course)

We can deliver this EFAW+F course at a venue of your choice for groups of 6 or more learners.

This EFAW+F course is ideal for those working in forestry environments including forestry workers, arborists, vegetation clearance, tree planting and Forestry Commission work. The EFAW+F course provides you with the knowledge and skills required to be an emergency first aider at work, as outlined in the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The Forestry Commission first aid policy recommend those who work in the forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work, topics including:

  • Severe bleeding (i.e., chainsaw injury)
  • Crush injury
  • Hypothermia
  • Lyme Disease

If your first aid needs analysis suggests more training beyond the EFAW+F course maybe working in remote areas or such as stabilising fractures, trauma injuries, working at height, head injuries & medical illnesses we would recommend the 2 Day Outdoor First Aid course; a practical, basic course designed specifically for those who work in remote or higher hazard environments. Contact us how we can dual certificate this.

This EFAW+F course is forestry specific. It tailors the standard Emergency First Aid at Work content and covers the additional topics required by the Forestry Commission i.e. severe bleeding covering the use of Tourniquets, pressure bandages and haemostatic dressings, crush injuries, secondary survey and evacuation, hypothermia and Lymes disease.

EFAW+F course content

  • Initial Incident Management
  • Basic Life Support Procedures
  • CPR and Defibrillator including remote protocols.
  • Dealing with major bleeding
  • Common Illnesses
  • Crush Injuries
  • Hypothermia
  • Lymes Disease

Students that complete the days training and pass the assessments will receive a certificate that is valid for three years.

Toby and Erica provided excellent, practical training for a group of forestry operatives. Great that it was hands on and considered likely scenarios outdoors in a woodland setting. Well paced and energising training!

Best first aid course, I've ever attended!! Toby gave us regular breaks during the day, to make sure we didn't lose focus or get bored. Toby is easy going, has a great sense of humour, which made it way more fun and digestible 👌🏾 Thanks Toby ☺️

We had Toby complete our Emergency First Aid at Work training for our staff, and we couldn't be happier with how the course went. From start to finish, Toby ensured that the course content was engaging and relatable to our own requirements in the gym industry. Toby was friendly, relaxed, and clearly had a lot of knowledge and experience. We will definitely be using Optimal First Aid Ltd for all of our first aid and further health and safety courses moving forwards. Thanks Toby!
