What the Course Covers

This qualification develops the skills required to manage adult patients in critical situations. Training includes:

Adult Immediate Life Support

  • Recognition of cardiac arrest

  • Team‑based resuscitation

  • Management of medical and traumatic cardiac arrest

Patient Assessment and Deterioration Recognition

  • Structured assessment

  • Working diagnosis

  • Early identification of deterioration

Airway and Ventilatory Support

  • OPA, NPA, and supraglottic airway insertion

  • Ventilation support

  • Oxygen therapy and suction

Monitoring and Clinical Equipment

  • SpO₂

  • 3‑lead and 12‑lead ECG

  • ETCO₂

  • NIBP monitoring

All training is aligned with Resuscitation Council UK and JRCALC guidelines.

Assessment and Certification

Learners must complete:

  • Two practical assessments

  • One airway and ventilatory support skills test

  • A 20‑question multiple‑choice exam (minimum score 14/20)

Successful learners receive the Qualsafe Level 4 Award in Out of Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support (RQF), valid for one year.

This qualification includes:

  • 7 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)

  • 10 Total Qualification Time (TQT)

  • A single intensive training day supported by pre‑course study

Yes. Learners must be 18+ and hold a Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 4) or a higher clinical qualification. If you’re earlier in your pathway, you can start with our FREC 3 training in Devon

The qualification includes 7 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and 10 Total Qualification Time (TQT). Training is delivered as a single intensive day at our Newton Abbot venue.

Assessment includes two practical assessments, one airway and ventilatory support skills test, and a 20‑question multiple‑choice exam. All elements must be passed to achieve certification.

The Level 4 Out of Hospital Immediate Life Support certificate is valid for one year. Learners must retake the full qualification before expiry to remain certified.
