Forest School First Aid Designed for Outdoor Learning
Teaching and caring for children outdoors present very different challenges to working inside a classroom.
Whether you’re leading Forest School sessions, woodland learning, outdoor nurseries or nature-based education, help may not always be immediately available. Uneven ground, woodland tools, fires, changing weather, insects, allergic reactions and remote locations all increase the importance of having first aiders trained specifically for these environments.
This course has been designed for those working with children in outdoor settings, combining Forest School First Aid with the knowledge and practical skills required for Paediatric First Aid. The Forest School qualification is specifically designed for emergency first aid involving both adults and children in Forest School and outdoor learning environments, while the Paediatric First Aid qualification focuses on infants and children in early years, childcare and education settings.

Why Choose Forest School First Aid?

Training includes the management of:
- Cardiac arrest and CPR
- AED use
- Choking
- Major bleeding
- Burns and campfire injuries
- Fractures and sprains
- Head injuries
- Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
- Asthma
- Seizures
- Hypothermia
- Heat illness
- Tick bites and environmental hazards
- Casualty management in outdoor environments
- Infant and child medical emergencies
- Emergency planning within Forest School settings
Training is delivered through realistic practical scenarios, ensuring learners leave confident rather than simply qualified.

Highly recommended.Posted on Google Alan LowethTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've just attended the Emergency Outdoor First Aid Course run by Toby. I've done First Aid at Work Training before and my Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is still in date. The Outdoor Course was a great refresher, but I also learnt a lot more that's relevant for my current conservation volunteering. Toby delivered a full-day course which included lots of practical exercises and left plenty of time to practice the various techniques. He kept everyone's attention for the whole day which was quite an achievement and I'd recommend Optimal First Aid to anyone who is looking for an engaging trainer who will draw on their own experience but put the focus on the training needs of the attendees.Posted on Google Robert ChristieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
