Why Choose Optimal First Aid
Onsite first aid training delivered across Devon, Cornwall and the Southwest for people who work in high-risk, remote and demanding environments.
When things go wrong, you don’t need theory, you need trained, confident action.
Training that prepares you for real emergencies, not just assessments
Optimal First Aid delivers onsite first aid training across Devon, Cornwall and the Southwest for people working in high-risk, remote and demanding environments. Our approach goes beyond compliance, focusing on practical skills, clear decision-making and the confidence to act effectively when real emergencies happen.
When it matters, Powerpoint training isn’t enough
Most first aid training focuses on passing an assessment with death by Powerpoint!
We focus on what happens after the course, when a real emergency happens and there’s no script to follow.
Our approach is built around realism, decision-making and confidence under pressure, not box-ticking.
Veteran-led, experience-driven instruction
Founded by a former Parachute Regiment soldier, Optimal First Aid is built on operational experience in high-pressure environments where decisions have consequences.
Not every instructor is ex-military, but every instructor is selected for:
- Real-world operational experience
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Practical, credible delivery style
Training designed for real-world conditions
We don’t teach people to pass exams. We train them to act.
- Scenario-based training reflecting real incidents
- Practical, hands-on casualty management
- Decision-making under pressure
- Realistic, immersive training environments
- No unnecessary theory or classroom overload
This is first aid training designed for real workplaces, not lecture theatres.
Built for high-risk and remote environments
Our training is designed for people who don’t work in controlled settings.
We regularly train:
- Forestry and tree surgery teams
- Outdoor instructors and expedition leaders
- Security and close protection personnel
- Remote workers and field engineers
- Adventure tourism and outdoor education teams
If immediate medical support is not guaranteed, this training is relevant to you.
Onsite delivery across Devon, Cornwall and the Southwest
We bring the training to your location, wherever you operate.
From rural worksites to coastal and remote environments, we deliver onsite first aid training tailored to your risks and working conditions.
No travel. No downtime. No generic classroom environment.
More than compliance
Yes, our courses meet HSE, Ofsted and industry standards.
But compliance is the starting point, not the goal.
We focus on developing:
- Confidence in decision-making
- Calm under pressure
- Practical intervention skills
- Real-world readiness
The outcome
People who don’t just hold a qualification, but know how to use it when it counts.

I've done First Aid at Work Training before and my Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is still in date. The Outdoor Course was a great refresher, but I also learnt a lot more that's relevant for my current conservation volunteering. Toby delivered a full-day course which included lots of practical exercises and left plenty of time to practice the various techniques. He kept everyone's attention for the whole day which was quite an achievement and I'd recommend Optimal First Aid to anyone who is looking for an engaging trainer who will draw on their own experience but put the focus on the training needs of the attendees.Posted on Google Robert ChristieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
